2018 Courage Ride

Open Gates Business Development Corporation’s foundation, The Fountain Charitable Foundation, announces their donation to the 2018 Courage Ride organized by the Iowa Mennonite School in Kalona, Iowa on August 18. The Courage Ride is an annual event honoring the life of Seth Bailey. Proceeds from the event are used to support patients who are battling sarcoma.

Who is Seth Bailey?

Seth Bailey was only 17 when he was first diagnosed with sarcoma. He was very active in sports when he went to the doctor with a sore leg. After a long process of treatments, Seth lost his battle in 2003. In 2005, Seth’s parents, Jackie and Tom, began the ride to honor Seth and others with the rare form of cancer.

What’s being donated?Seth-Bailey

Kalona Creamery, an Open Gates Group (OGG) entity, will be donating 30 pounds of cheese curds. Kalona Organics, another entity of OGG, will also be donating 15 cases of Kalona SuperNatural Organic Chocolate Milk. Participants will be able to find these items during the race and at the post-race event.

“This is a great community and we support it anyway we can. The Courage Ride not only helps the health and well-being of its participants, but offers so much to the community and surrounding areas. It’s a great cause and a good time.”

~ Erika Smith, Fountain Charitable Foundation Chairman
